IEC and ELPC React to Wind XII Project Approval

The Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) today voted to approve MidAmerican Energy's 591 MW Wind XII docket without any requirements to address coal use in Iowa. IEC and ELPC requested this action to ensure that MidAmerican's energy generation in Iowa is truly 100% renewable, as the company claims.

Wind XII hearing raises questions about MidAmerican's continued reliance on coal

ELPC and IEC filed post-hearing briefs today in the Wind XII docket at the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB). Both organizations have intervened in the docket to ask questions about the accuracy of MidAmerican Energy's 100% renewable vision if there are no plans to retire parts of their coal fleet.

IEC Educates Legislators on the Business Case for Energy Efficiency

In September and October, IEC organized bipartisan tours for legislators and legislative candidates about clean energy and energy efficiency in Carroll, Burlington, and Poweshiek Counties. Local businesses and energy consumers demonstrated first-hand the value of clean energy policies to current and future legislators.

IEC joins call for planning and preparation as extreme weather intensifies in Iowa
