Des Moines, June 1, 2017 - The Council opposes withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change. Adverse climate impacts on agriculture, public health and the economy are occurring now and will only worsen without strong action. The Council believes the positive economic benefits from maintaining US involvement are long term and significant. Leaving the Agreement risks losing these benefits and the increasing costs and impacts from worsening climate change.
