Iowa Environmental Council will celebrate 20th anniversary and early leaders at Pro H2O
June 2, 2015 (DES MOINES, IA) – Since its founding 20 years ago, the Iowa Environmental Council has made improving the quality of Iowa’s rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands a top priority.
Next Thursday, June 11, a diverse group of Iowans including environmentalists, business leaders, policy makers and individuals passionate about protecting and preserving Iowa’s natural resources will gather on the bank of the Des Moines River for Pro H2O, a celebration of the Council’s 20th anniversary. Together, they will toast to continued advocacy and a shared vision for a future with clean water.

WHO: All Iowans passionate about protecting Iowa’s environment

This year’s event will honor six community leaders that were instrumental in shaping and defining the Council. 2015 honorees include Mark Ackelson, Linda Appelgate, Buz Brenton, Charlotte Hubbell, David Hurd and David Osterberg.
“The Council’s ability to gather the knowledge and expertise of our members and bring a diverse group of stakeholders to the table is one of our greatest assets,” said Executive Director Ralph Rosenberg. “This event is about celebrating those partnerships and our collective, continued commitment to creating a safe, healthy environment and sustainable future for Iowa.”
The evening will feature hors d'oeuvres, drinks, interactive water exhibits, live music from Extravision, an honoree recognition program, remarks from Pat Boddy, and fun with like-minded friends. Nick Renkoski will emcee.
