As IEC eyes 2021 and the next quarter century of activity for the non-profit environmental coalition, they will be doing so under new leadership. Jennifer Terry’s last day as Executive Director of the Iowa Environmental Council will be October 7, 2020 as she moves on to pursue a new opportunity.
“I have been inspired and guided by those who came before me and also energized by the team we have built. Their voices are rising to lead the next 25 years of this wonderful organization," says Terry. “I can’t adequately express my gratitude to the board, our members, and our partners who have been a part of this journey every day.”
Terry joined IEC as Executive Director in September 2017. During her tenure, the organization expanded its influence, emboldened its voice, and grew its impact, now with a staff of 14. Additionally, 100% Iowa was introduced-- an exciting grassroots clean energy initiative.
Prior to her hire as Executive Director, Jennifer worked as the Ag Policy Director at IEC from 2013-2015, then Environmental Advocacy Leader with Des Moines Water Works from 2015-2017 until her hire at the Council.
“The Board has been fortunate to have had Jennifer with us during a pivotal time. While growing staff, helping to plan events around IEC’s 25th anniversary, leading and inspiring during the challenges of the pandemic, and helping our board to thrive as we said goodbye to longtime leaders and welcomed new members, Jennifer has been a guiding hand through it all,” said Monte Marti, IEC Board President.
The organization has begun the process of recruiting and hiring a new Executive Director. The position description and application process are now available at iaenvironment.org/joinourteam. The application deadline is October 23, 2020.
