Awarding Champions of the Environment, in Honor of IEC's 30th Anniversary

posted by Bethany Kohoutek on Sunday, April 20, 2025

In 2025, IEC celebrates our 30th anniversary — 30 years of fighting for clean water, pollution-free air, and healthy communities. As we look forward to the future of this work in Iowa, it’s important to recognize and thank the people whose vision and tireless work set the groundwork for progress today.

Throughout the year, we will celebrate these individuals and their impact. Help us thank them in person at our signature event, PRO H2O. The event takes place on May 8, 2025, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines. Get all the details and purchase tickets here.

“Each of these remarkable individuals has contributed to protecting, highlighting, and advancing environmental work in Iowa,” says Sarah Green, IEC Executive Director. “Their dedication and care for their communities and for future generations laid the foundation for protected waterways, natural areas, clean energy, environmental justice, climate health, and all of the things we hold sacred and important today. We’re so grateful for their strategy and stamina, which continue to inspire and fuel us.”

We’ve recognized one individual for each of IEC’s 30 years. Introducing the IEC Champions of the Environment!
